1. How did you get your start in the industry?
At the age of 15 I started working in a inspiring salon. I developed my passion for hair, and especially color. At the age of 21 I started working for myself.
2. What advice would you give to new stylists or stylists who aspire to be where you are today?
Many people ask me what my goal in life is , but I have never had one. I tackle the things that come by and that make me feel good. I always live in the moment and am curious what the world has to offer me. As advice I want to say that you certainly have to work hard, but also enjoy it, if you work hard and enjoy it, success will come to you.
3. What inspired you to become a colorist?
Coloring is my favorite! I love the challenge of creating the perfect color for my client. I swear by the color theory that you as a color specialist must know so well. The color techniques are creative, but the color recipe is really a math. That is also the challenge.
4. What are your specialties?
Color, for sure. I still enjoy coloring. I find a certain peace and focus when I'm coloring. Perfection is in the details and certainly with color that is so important.
5. What is your favorite color trend / technique of the moment?
Mushroom blonde, strawberry honey, Jet black, faded pastel and of course rich copper. With these colors you really give yourself a new identity and you have to dare to wear it.
I still love the balayage, highlights techniques.
Every color specialist has a specific signature. I stand for hair colors that my customers enjoy for a long time. Long lasting colors.
6. What’s the biggest challenge with color?
Instagram and pintrest are super inspiring. through these 2 channels people dare to change more with their hair and faster.
The thing is that people don't know what has been done for the photo to get that particular color. Are they colored once or 6 times? Is the substrate the same as the customer? Has the photo been edited? And sometimes even, isn't it a wig? Customers do not know that, but often expect to achieve that total color change in 1 treatment. And that is unfortunately not the reality.
7. What’s the most important thing about hair color?
Keep hair as healthy as possible. There is nothing more beautiful than shiny healthy hair with different depths. A perfect color with broken hair is not perfect.
8. How do you find inspiration today?
9. What products can we always find in your kit?
Bond fusion. Its premium treatment that allows clients to go lighter and brighter without compromising the integrity of their hair.
